South Africa has over the times proved to be the powerhouse of Africa’s economy, to the extent that people outside Africa regard it as the capital of the entire continent. South Africa boasts of a number of multinational and powerful companies and enterprises that have even conquered the European and Asian markets. Notabe of these is Standard Bank, now threatening to become the world largest bank.

The Standard Bank, with its roots in South Africa has fully covered the entire African continent and also has got established roots in China, Europe and South America. It is steadily taking over the entire globe as a solid financial institution and is really proving its worth by the nature of the funding schemes it offers to huge projects.

South Africa in unmistakenly a world class nation and proved the critics wrong when it hosted 2010 world cup; the first ever major sporting event on the African soil. It was regarded a great success and it manifested the great might of the nation. However, what is interesting to note is the fact that a large percentage of the economy lies in the hands of the whites who are the minority populace of the country. Nonetheless, South Africa continues to thrive and enjoy a relatively peaceful and stable political evironment compared to the rest of the Afrian nations.

Nelson Mandela is a great world statesman who is regarded and actually is the father of the South African nation. This is undoubtedly due to the fact that he fought for the freedom of blacks from the oppression of the white rule, even when it meant giving up his life for that cause. Neslon Mandela spent 27 years serving a prison sentence whaich atually was meant to be life imprisonment. His jailors new he had been finished and little did they ever imagine that he would emmerge with strength to lead the nation to independence from the whites in 1994.

When in South Africa, you certainly cannot fail to think of Mandela because he is a world figure and so far the only living human who sacrificed his own life for the redemption of his own people. The Mandela factor in South Africa is therefore very certain to the extent that one is justified to assert that South Africa is because Mandela was and because he was, so the nation of South Africa is.

Since the Independence time, the country has continuosly enjoyed the thrive in all sectors; economy, sports, tourism, security and stability and the general wellbeing of the citizens.
