South Africa is naturally blessed with a very rich variety of wildlife; both birds and animals which make the tourism sector flourish with a lot of influx of visitors. The animals and birds there are quite fascinating and make the country decome adorable by the entire world.

South Africa has also got a very rich plant life (flora) with a variety of lots of plants that are rarely found in any other part of the country. This rich flora and fauna are all found in the four provinces that make up the beautiful country of the Southern tip of Africa.

South Africa is generally a semi arid country and this explains the fact that forests are really not so common in South Africa.The shrub vegetation, somewhat monotonous grasslands with a few trees, the savannah type of vegetation is the the main characteristic of the South African vegetation.
South Africa also has got a number of wildlife reserves with a very rich varety of wild animals such as lions, antelopes, elephants, rhinoceros; most of which still exist only in the most marginal regions mainly in the Kalahari.
Kruger National Park in the north-east is one of the oldest and largest game reserves in Africa, covering the area of up to 18,989 square kilometres; extending 360 kilometres from north to south as well as 65 kilometres from east to west. This was set up to preserve the animal life from extermination when the Europeans began settling in the country in the 17th Century. Kruger National park has got an amazingly rich animal life, birdlife and hundreds of snake species.
